The Funeral Planner inspires the real-life company
"Lights Out Enterprises"
Avant-garde
content creator Lynn Isenberg’s penchant for blurring
the lines between reality and fiction has paid off.
Her second entrepreneurial comedy novel, The Funeral Planner,
has in fact launched a real life business mirrored inside
the novel aptly named Lights Out Enterprises with a notable
advisory board of high stakes entertainment professionals
that many corporations would envy. Plus, there’s
a spin-off business from a sub-plot called Fashion Therapy
101… all inspired by the novel. Reality
may be at the root of all fiction, but in this case, fiction
has clearly spawned reality.
The Funeral Planner, an entrepreneurial comedy novel starring
female protagonist Madison Banks hits
the shelves September 1st
from Red Dress Ink, leader of chick lit publishing.
For those who think outside the box, pun intended, and seek
the secrets to entrepreneurship, The Funeral Planner a la
The Wedding Planner, is an entertaining fictional manual
on how to start a business, especially for women, and in
an industry that boasts a significant rise in feminine power.
Even the table of contents reflects the anatomy of a business
plan.
And what exactly does Madison Banks do at Lights Out Enterprises?
According to Madison’s spokesperson, author-screenwriter-producer-entrepreneur
Lynn Isenberg, whose Hollywood credits include “I
Love You To Death” starring Kevin Kline, “Youngblood”
starring Rob Lowe, and branded entertainment and narrative
marketing projects through her company Focus Media, Inc.,
says, “Lights Out Enterprises is an experience design
firm catering to affluent baby boomers seeking customized
celebratory events for the now and hereafter. We create
meaningful experiences to remember.”
The novel’s inspiration? An
unusual solo performance of Sandra Bernhard singing accapella
at Isenberg's brother's funeral was the genesis for THE
FUNERAL PLANNER. When her college roommate commented,
"Gee, I wish I'd brought my boys, then they’d
know funerals don't have to be so sad,” the words
percolated inside Isenberg giving her the inspiration to
escape inside a story while working through her personal
grief for the loss of both her father and brother who died
a year apart to the day.
In a twist of irony, the
author is now working with renowned Michigan funeral director
Dave Techner, of Ira Kaufman Chapel, who buried her father
and brother, to bring to life the non-fiction Guide to Grief
Wellness and Personalized Tributes as portrayed in her novel. THE
FUNERAL PLANNER, like the author’s debut novel, My
Life Uncovered, challenges convention once again, this time
through America's perception of bereavement. Isenberg massages
mourning deaths into celebrations of life through the eyes
of an ambitious entrepreneur who learns to live life by
confronting grief along the way divining the difference
between self-worth and net worth.

MY LIFE
UNCOVERED REVEALS POTENTIAL AS TV SERIES
A major cable television network is considering
MLU as a television series. Should this opportunity come
to pass, please let me know who you see as playing Laura
Taylor? Meanwhile, I feel like I’ve been nominated
for an Oscar, just to be seriously considered.
